What Mealo is

Mealo is a wellness and nutrition tracking tool. It is not a medical device, does not provide medical advice, and is not a substitute for professional healthcare guidance. See our AI & health disclaimer for details.

Information we collect

  • Account information: name, email address, and authentication credentials.
  • Profile data: sex, birth date, height, weight, activity level, goals, and dietary preferences. This is health-adjacent data you provide voluntarily to calculate nutrition targets — Mealo does not connect to medical records or health providers.
  • Food logs: meals, meal items, calories and macros you log, and photos you upload for AI scanning.
  • Camera: used only when you choose to scan a meal photo or attach a photo to a log entry. Mealo does not access the camera in the background.
  • Usage data: app interactions, feature usage, and device/browser information.
  • Billing status: subscription/membership state (we do not store full payment card numbers).

How we use your information

We use your data to calculate nutrition targets, log and display your meals, sync your data between the mobile app and web dashboard, operate the AI photo-scan feature, and improve the product. We do not sell your personal data.

Device permissions

  • Camera: used only when you choose to scan or attach a meal photo. Not accessed in the background.
  • Biometric / fingerprint unlock: used only if you enable app-lock in Settings, to verify it's you before opening the app. Biometric data stays on your device and is never sent to our servers.
  • Photos/storage access: used to let you pick an existing photo to scan, upload an avatar, or save an exported copy of your data to your device.
  • Network access: required for the app to sync your data with our servers.

Meal photos

Photos you upload for AI food scanning are stored in private storage and are only accessible to you. You can delete a meal photo at any time from the meal detail screen. Photos are never shared publicly without your explicit action (e.g. posting to the Friends Feed).

Data sharing

We share data only with service providers necessary to operate Mealo (e.g. cloud hosting, AI/vision providers for scan analysis). We do not sell or rent your personal data to third parties for marketing.

Your rights

  • Export your data at any time from Profile → Export my data.
  • Request deletion of your account and all associated data at mymealo.app/dashboard/delete-account, or from within the app under Settings → Delete Account. Deletion works entirely on the web — you do not need to have the app installed to request it.
  • Contact us to ask questions about data we hold on you.

Data retention

We retain your data while your account is active. When you request account deletion, your personal data and uploaded photos are deleted or anonymized within 30 days, except where retention is required by law.

Children

Mealo is intended for users 18 and older. We do not knowingly collect data from children.
